Hollywood’s Hot New Diet

Nothing pains me more than having to admit that I do look at US Weekly magazine (it’s my wife’s subscription not mine I swear). But what I saw on the cover today, I’ve seen several times in the last 8 months. And I gotta tell you….

There’s a pattern here and if you give me 2 minutes, I’ll tell you what I think it is…

Have you seen Hollywood’s Hot New Diet? You know the one where Jessica Simpson lost 20 pounds in just two months?

This diet is so hot that clients like Katherine Heigl, Mandy Moore, Alicia keys and Eva Mendes are going ga-ga over The 5-Factor Diet and its creator, fitness trainer Harley Pasternak.

Of course you get to see the exclusive food plan that Jess used to get down to her former Duke’s of Hazzard weight and…

It’s so easy you can do it too!

But I’d strongly recommend you don’t try this at home…

Fact: These celebrities are paid to look certain ways for particular acting roles. They go through periods of weight loss and fat gain to fit a look for a part.

Fact: Almost any diet you’ll lose weight on

Fact: Dieting can be deadly to your health according to the word’s largest study of weight loss

What’s the BIG secret that’s got Hollywood all in a rage?

There’s no secret!

Let me break down ALL of these diets for you so that you can clearly see how a person might make a significant change to their appearance. This will be so easy, you can do it!

a) Change your nutritional habits drastically. In Jess’ case, she went from eating to eating super healthy at at a specific calorie range. She eats 5 times a day, planned meal with the proper ratios. Because she made such a big change to her eating habits, her body will change.

b) Engage in challenging exercise that includes weight resistance training. Again, she went from just exercising to pushing herself to new levels. If you strive to do better today than you did yesterday, you are going to change. Your body will respond by enhanced cardiovascular conditioning, more muscle, more stamina. While she admits to liking shorter workouts (45 minutes ) there are times when you can push yourself with longer or more intense workouts.

The bottom line is…

She’s working out harder today than she was a few months ago. Her level of conditioning will force her body to adapt and change to the increased demands. In her case, more muscle and less fat.

c) Hired a personal trainer. She probably knows how to workout. Jessica Simpson appears to be athletic by nature. But with the addition of a trainer, her ACCOUNTABILITY goes up. Not to mention she’s more motivated to workout with a partner pushing her alone.

How did Brad Pitt get so super fit for Fight Club?

Same way. He changed his diet. He worked out harder. He had a trainer for accountability, motivation and to ensure his success.

Folks this isn’t big news.

And in fact, you DON’T want to follow these diets as they are classic examples of yo-yo dieting. I’ve got a stack of US Weekly magazines. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen the same star balloon up and then lose weight and repeat the cycle over and over again. Sometimes it’s their jobs to get fit and in shape for a certain role. Other times, they just maintain a comfortable weight.

What you really need to ASK is…

“How long can they maintain that weight and level of conditioning?”

Many times you’ll find them fluctuating 20 pounds or more! That’s a lot of work on the body’s systems. And it’s not healthy according to that study. In fact, those same researches found that most of the people who did these diets gained all the weight back and then some. They would have been better off not dieting at all.

The solution is simple:

1) Understand basic nutritional principles of meal planning. This means figuring out your calories per day, protein, carbohydrates and fats and then eating meals that fit those ratios. There’s not a lot of variety but you’ll soon find a slew of meals that fit into your plan. If you want a new meal with every meal, you will find it very hard to stick to a plan. In the diet Jessica Simpson was doing, there were only 3 days of meals. She probably eats a lot of the same things over and over but it’s easy to stick to a plan if you don’t add too much variety.

2) Start exercising. Find a plan, buy a plan or hire a qualified trainer to create one for you. And as you make progress, increase the level of intensity according to your goals and your abilities. Eventually you will make progress and be in better shape today than you were yesterday.

3) Hire a trainer. It adds a level of accountability that you just can’t get if you rely on yourself. And the motivational factor is well worth it. If you cannot hire a trainer, then join some type of support group, find a training partner at your gym or join an online community. The support factor is critical in adding a level of accountability for actions. You’ll also have somebody or a group to bounce ideas off and keep you moving forward.

That’s where Turbulence Training comes into play. Craig Ballantyne has setup a system that teaches you all 3 steps above. Turbulence Training is sound nutrition, short but intense full body workouts for busy people and with Craig as your “trainer” you have the accountability. Plus he’s available via e-mail and there’s a membership site he setup for added support and accountability.

The NEAT thing about Craig’s program is that it always works for everybody because it’s based on nutritional and training fundamentals. It’s not a diet. That means no more yo-yo diets and bouncing around. It means you’ll be the person who maintains a constant healthy weight while the others jump around and put unhealthy stress on their bodies. You won’t have to spend thousands of dollars on a trainer or some fancy fad workout program.

What you will get is an education in health that will be priceless.

I highly recommend you bounce on over to TurbulenceTraining and see what it’s all about.

Turbulence Training

P.S. - Turbulence Training has worked for thousands of people who aren’t paid actors. They are regular people like you and me who have jobs and don’t have the time to hire cooks and trainers. It’s a brilliant program that just works.

P.P.S. - The Hollywood trainers are just figuring out that the key to successful weight loss and muscle tone is not to diet at all! If you view The 5 Factor Diet, the main point is that it’s NOT a diet! These guys are just telling you what Craig has known for years and has studied on all his clients. If you learn how to eat correctly, you never have to give up the foods you love and you don’t ever have to diet again.

P.P.P.S. - Don’t waste another moment on another glossy book that has Hollywood endorsements. Turbulence Training is endorsed by regular people like you and me. Real workouts, for busy people who shop at large grocery stores, who may or may not have kids who are picky eaters! :-)

  1. Jennifer Says:

That was a fantastic pod cast; full of insight, common sense and humor. I’m going to make sure all my friends hear it. I also wanted to compliment you again on your wonderful style. I have noticed that on most motivational pod casts everyone sounds so peppy, perky, and annoying (like they have had way too much coffee). But you speak in a calm and natural way as if you are actually talking to grownups, it’s fantastic!

You were right about the cardio - too boring and it feels like a waste of time. So I have moved on to home improvement cardio; lawn mowing, weeding and deck repair, etc. Progress: a nice lawn and a total loss of 5% body fat and 10.5 pounds.

A girlfriend of mine that runs two hours everyday and eats lots of salads stopped by to use my body fat scale, she almost fainted when it showed 36% body fat. I think she is now ready for your site.
